Putting our best foot forward

MTB Fundamentals for Kids

Upcoming Skills Clinic Dates:

  • Sunday 17 November 2019, 9.30am-12.30pm

Location: Manly Dam

Kids webKids love learning new skills as well as getting outside and being physical, which is why mountain biking has proven to be so popular with kids!

With a sport like mountain biking, the rider's level of skill definitely makes a difference to their fun and satisfaction, the sooner young riders are taught correct basic techniques, the sooner they can start developing new skills and tricks under their own steam. Without this basic tool kit of skills, progress can be very slow and they can soon become frustrated.

Our kids clinic is designed to be fun and educational for 9-13 year old children who can already ride, pedal and have basic control of a bike. The aim of the clinic is to teach the correct skills for cornering, braking, descending and climbing by teaching body positioning, braking technique, gear selection and pedalling technique.

The clinic is 3 hours in duration, which we find is the maximum most children can concentrate and ride for. If your child wishes to move on to more advanced skills after this clinic, we suggest private or small group tuition, details of which you can find here.

Fiona Dick & Joe Ward are Chocolate Foot’s chief instructors. Our main goal is to see everyone having fun on their bikes learning new skills and riding more confidently by the end of the session!
