IMG 6569This is our most popular clinic and it’s aimed at riders who want to learn the fundamental skills of mountain biking, and also those who are looking to improve their technical riding skills, confidence in rough terrain, and ultimately their enjoyment of riding! With a low student to teacher ratio, we ensure plenty of attention and instruction for everyone. The skills and drills we’ll teach will be tailored to ensure everyone gets the most out of the session.

Fiona Dick & Joe Ward are your instructors for the skills day. With a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, and great feedback from our skills clinics, they are committed to ensuring you have a productive, fun day on the bike and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Our main goal is to see everyone having fun on their bikes learning new skills and riding more confidently by the end of the day!

What we'll be covering in the skills clinic:

  • Bike safety & setup - ensuring your bike is mechanically sound, comfortable, and suitably set up for your riding style
  • Body position and weight distribution - understanding the effect of your body position on the bike
  • Balance skills - for control at low speed and in the tight stuff
  • Braking - which brake does what and how to brake for best result
  • Cornering and singletrack technique - learn to rail your favourite singletrack!
  • Ascending & descending - body position, gear selection, line choice
  • Clearing obstacles - unweighting and intro to wheel lifts
