The Chocolate Wrapper - 2014 Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series R3 Event Report

Dear Singletracker

It's hard to believe we're over half way through the series and only two more events to go, but haven't the first three been crackers? Dear old Awaba did not disappoint and and even the weather played nice with a light overnight shower to dampen the dust but a beautiful clear day - perfect conditions! Add to that a high calibre field of riders including some of Australia's fastest juniors (the future of the sport is looking great!) and lots of fast and enthusiastic ladies including of course our very own Chocolate Foot Women's Development team.

There were plenty of intriguing battles played out during the day and you can read up on all the racing news on marathonmtb.com.

We are so lucky to have such awesome support from sponsors and services at the events and we're sure it's appreciated by competitors and spectators alike. With several sponsors present - Finish Line, Grimm-Hewitt, Kobie International, James Estate Wines, SRAM, and Rockpool Graphics, the fantastic support of Dallas and his team from Breakaway Cycles, the excellent catering and beverages from Snax on Trax, and the Short Circuit Cancer crew rounding out the event centre displays, the event centre was buzzing!

Congratulations to all the category winners and place getters for their awesome efforts, walking away with over $13,000 in cash and prizes from our fantastic sponsors Finish Line, SRAM, Avid, RockShox, Truvativ, Serfas, Bellwether, Deuter, Cycology, Hammer Nutrition, James Estate, Rockpool Graphics, Kobie, Aussie Butt Cream, Mountain Biking Australia magazine, Ventou Cycling Wear, Cycle & Fitness Studio, Ritchey and Grimm-Hewitt!

Congratulations also to our prize draw winners - Alison Gibberd who won the lovely Grimm-Hewitt original artwork and Di Gbel who won a set of SRAM X0 carbon cranks - Di proving that consistency is key, as a long term serial offender she's adding this prize to the $1000 bike voucher she won at a previous Awaba round!

Results, Photos, Video & Reports

The race results, including Female & Male 20 fastest laps, are up on the website. Here you'll also find a bunch of reports from the race and competitor feedback. Series points will be updated in the next few days.

Event photographer and lensman extraordinaire Dave Bateman took loads of fantastic shots which are showcased in our Gallery. Ian Moses was also snapping away and has supplied a ton (literally!) of great shots for your viewing pleasure - also in the Gallery. You're welcome to download the low-res shots displayed there for your personal use and if you want to purchase a high-res copy ($15 per image), please This email address is being protected from spambots. Chocolate Foot Women's MTB Development Team

Our Women's MTB Development Team once again hit the podium! In the 7hr, the team took out the first and third steps of the Female Pairs category, and third in Female Threes. In the 4hr, Mel won the Open Female category, after a tight battle with Eva Boland, who had won the previous round. The rest of the team were behind her all the way, providing pit support and very vocal encouragement! We'd love you to check out the Team Website which includes rider profiles, blogs, and sponsor information.

Putting our best foot forward …

Round 4 at Coondoo Road, Nowra, on 31 August is destined to be our biggest round of the year - everyone loves it, and with good reason! Not known to rest on their laurels, the South Coast Mountainbikers are busily building new sections and reshaping existing trails to showcase to you at the event, and the bridge is set to make an appearance. We seriously CAN'T WAIT! All the event info is on the website and we look forward to seeing you there!

That's it for our event wrap the "Chocolate Wrapper"!

Cheers
