The Chocolate Wrapper - 2015 Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series Round One

Dear Singletracker

evocities-mtb-series-300There's no doubt about it, last weekend was really special! With 2 races in 1 we hosted the opening round of our own Finish Line Singletrack Mind series and the 2nd round of the Evocities MTB Series and it was at an all new venue - Wylde MTB Park at Cecil Hills. While the weather did its best to give us grey hair, it came good and in fact dried out to become super grippy and fast! The feedback about the venue has been overwhelmingly positive and the Western Sydney Parklands Trust must be congratulated for building this great facility in a readily-accessible location right in the middle of the greater Sydney area.

There were plenty of fantastic battles throughout the day and you can read up on all the racing news on

It's never good to be speaking of accidents, but many of you would have been aware of a competitor who was being treated track-side for a significant period. The injured rider was Cr Mathew Dickerson, Mayor of Dubbo and the person responsible for developing the Evocities MTB Series. As you will read in this story in the Daily Liberal, Cr Dickerson has suffered significant injuries but, in the words of his family is "a very lucky boy", and we sincerely hope he'll make a speedy recovery. Thanks to the many of you who helped track-side or have asked about his welfare. Also sending good healing vibes to the two other broken bone recipients, one requiring surgery for a broken collarbone and the other with a broken scapula. We hope to see you all back on the bike as soon as is humanly possible!

We are very luckyto have such awesome support from sponsors and services at the events. The event centre was full of displays from James Estate Wines, SRAM,Fairfax Media, NAB, Hogs Breath and Fly Orana. Snax on Trax kept us fed and caffeinated, and big props to the Short Circuit Cancer crew - weare privileged that you have chosen our Series to help promote your fundraising for cancer research.

Congratulations to all the category winners and place getters for their awesome efforts, recieving cash and prizes from our fantastic sponsors Finish Line, SRAM, Avid, RockShox, Truvativ, Hammer Nutrition, James Estate,Aussie Butt Cream, Mountain Biking Australia magazine, and Cycle & Fitness Studio!
