The Chocolate Wrapper - 2014 Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series R1 Event Report

Dear Singletracker

How awesome was Taree? Fantastic trails, perfect weather, great competition, and just under 300 mountain bikers and their supporters proving what a great bunch of people mountain bikers are!

Massive thanks to the Manning-Great Lakes Tip Riders for providing this sublime race track and being an absolute pleasure to work with on these events! If you didn't make it on the social ride on Sat arvo fear not, the Taree Tip Riders are always happy for an excuse to ride so we're sure you can score a tour guide on a future visit!

The racing, as always, was top class and the introduction of the new 4hr cateogry plus a number of new names and teams certainly mixed things up. Check out the race report on marathonmtb.com for the low down on the battles throughout the day!

We are so lucky to have such awesome support from sponsors and services at the events and we're sure it's appreciated by competitors and spectators alike. Thanks to Finish Line, SRAM, James Estate, Kobie, Ritchey, Rockpool Graphics and Bourkes Bicycles for their support at this event, and Anita's Gourmet Foods and Bean Out & About Coffee for the range of food & drinks they had on offer.

Congratulations to all the category winners and place getters for their awesome efforts, walking away with over $13,000 in cash and prizes from our fantastic sponsors Finish Line, SRAM, Avid, RockShox, Truvativ, Serfas, Bellwether, Deuter, Cycology, Hammer Nutrition, James Estate, Rockpool Graphics, Kobie, Aussie Butt Cream, Mountain Biking Australia magazine, Ventou, Cycle & Fitness Studio, Ritchey and Grimm-Hewitt!

Congratulations also to our prize draw winners - Megan McIlwaine who won the fantastic Grimm-Hewitt original artwork worth $160 and Chris Pearce who walked away with a SRAM Rise 40 wheelset worth over $740!

Results, Photos, Video & Reports

The race results, including Female & Male 20 fastest laps, are up on the website.

You can find some blogs and reports from the race all collected here, plus some competitor & supporter feedback.

Event photographer and lensman extraordinaire Dave Bateman took loads of fantastic shots which are showcased in our Gallery. You're welcome to download the low-res shots displayed there for your personal use and if you want to purchase a high-res copy ($15 per image), just get in touch. Well worth it we reckon if you're lucky enough to have appeared in one of these amazing shots!

Thank You

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who assisted in the successful running of the event:

Chocolate Foot Women's MTB Development Team

This team made its debut at Taree with a great result of first place podiums all around! For some members this was their first ever mountain bike race and their enthusiasm, excitement and positivity was hugely apparent in the event centre and on track - these riders are already great ambassadors for the sport and the team sponsors, and we reckon they'll be spending much more time on podiums in the future! Congratulations to the Chocolate Foot Pocket Rockets who won Female Threes, Chocolate Footed Fairy Penguins who took out the Female Pairs, and Mel Nuttall who won the Female Open Solo 4hr category. Yiew!
