Footprint: Chocolate Foot News, April 2015

Hello and welcome, time to feel the dirt through your toes in the latest edition of the Footprint!

It's almost May! Where did the time go? Well thankfully for Joe and Fi, quite a bit of it went on the trails! We kicked off December with a great trip through New Zealand visiting the MTB hotspots of Rotorua, Wellington, Nelson and Queenstown. If you’ve been seeing all the videos and pics that have been coming out of NZ over summer and recently at Crankworx and the Enduro World Series, you’ll know that NZ is pretty much the best place in the world to ride a bike right now! Two of our Women’s development team riders, Steph and Linda also recently arrived back from the Tranz NZ Enduro and you can read about their experiences below. Closer to home we’ve been enjoying the new trails that were recently opened in Garigal National Park in northern Sydney and have weathered the recent Sydney storms in the safe haven of Cycle Studio in Balgowlah.

This is a bumper edition of Footprint, we hope you enjoy the read!

2015 Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series

It was pretty cool to kick off our 6th series on 12 April at Wylde MTB Park, a new venue right in Sydney, big numbers of competitors, a World Champion and also being a part of the new Evocities MTB Series!

Our first Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series round was a great success and once we stopped worrying about the weather, we had a lot of fun too!

Wingello in the beautiful Southern Highlands is the venue for our next round on 28 June! There's not much we can say about the place that hasn't been said already - it's awesome - so make sure you get your entry in soon!

Entries are open for all rounds, head here to lock in your spot!

Good Times MTB Enduro Series

good-times-enduro-350“Race the clock, ride with mates. Good times!"

Late last year you would have seen our announcement of the Good Times Enduro Series and we've been getting loads of enquiries about it!

As we're only interested in offering top notch events, we've decided to scale the series back to two events in this first year as one of our beloved venues is slated to undergo logging operations which coincides with the time we had picked for the race. So, sadly, Taree is out and we have revised our race schedule, which will give us more time to make Mogo and Orange awesome!

Good Times will be more than just a race against the clock, it's about creating the same vibe as if you were out trail riding with your mates - but with racing, bragging rights, and sweet prizes thrown into the mix. It's not all about chasing split seconds, we're going to make sure you have a good time whether you're at the pointy end or if it's your first enduro event!

The two Good Times events will each have a slightly different format:

4 October: Mogo State Forest, Mogo. This will be a circuit of the forest made up of 4-5 timed sections and liaison or cruising stages which competitors ride at a relaxed pace with their mates and dozens of new mates. We’ll link this all up with fun liaison sections that will have you yelling for more! The Maulbrooks MTB Park hosted a round of the Singletrack Mind Series last year and everyone raved about descents of AST and The Snake Track! But there’s plenty more gold in them thar hills! Good times!

15 November: Orange. The capital of the central west has an abundance of great riding! In Orange we'll feature four different timed courses in two locations, over two days (Sat arvo and Sunday), and you'll ride up, race down! We'll visit the super fun descents of Kinross State Forest, and the slopes of the 1,395 peak of Mt Canobolas (the local trail fairies tell us these secret trails will be epic!).

We'll have more info up on our website in the coming months, so put the dates in your calendar and we look forward to seeing you at the inaugural Good Times MTB Enduro series!

Chocolate Foot Women's Development Team

Steph and Linda from our Chocolate Foot Women’s Development Team as well as many of our friends and Singletrack Mind Series competitors took on the inaugural Tranz NZ Gravity Enduro event which saw riders tackle some seriously gnarly trails between Christchurch and Queenstown.

At Round 1 of the Singletrack Mind Series Linda and Steph took the 3rd step of the Female Pairs podium against some seriously hot competition! They say this has served to fire them up and step up thier training for the next round! They'll also need that form for their next major event on the calendar, the Port to Port MTB stage race in and around Newcastle! In the Solo 4hr, Mel got caught in start traffic but continued to reel in 1st place, only missing out by 3 mins!

The team have been writing some great blog posts over the past few months about the Tranz NZ and general bike-related adventures - you can find these and info on the team and its members here.
