Thankfully since our last newsletter in July we've managed to run a couple of events, the rescheduled rounds 2 & 3 of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series at Nowra and Awaba. The event at Nowra was a huge blast, in more ways than one, with 50km/hr gusts of winds whipping dust through the event centre, but riders loving the sheltered singletrack plus the new over and under bridge that offered a figure of 8 configuration at Coondoo Road. The Series rolled on to the singletrack nirvana of Awaba, a massive favourite for everyone, even the gruelling Camelbak Climb is grudgingly loved for the epic descent it provides! Two great weekends, two great host clubs, and we can't wait for wonderful Welby on 20 October.

We've also run a couple of very popular women's skills clinics, and there'll be more on the horizon plus a mixed clinic in the near future.

Fi's currently back in the UK visiting family and riding her trusty Orange P7 through the autumn leaves, so she'll miss seeing everyone at Welby but will certainly be back for the big Series Finale on 24 November in Orange!

Round 4 - Sunday 20 October, Welby

The wonderful crew from the Southern Highlands Cycle Club (SHCC) have been hard at work making improvements to the track including building a couple of bridges and other tweaks to add to the fun and flow! If you needed any more coercion to sample the wiggles of Welby, it's a bonus Series points round so we're giving 40 bonus points just for turning up! And if you're a WEMBO solo competitor, we've got a special 40% off deal for you, read on below!

If you feel like getting your karma points tally up (and a sneaky preview of the race loop) you can help out SHCC on their final working bee prior to the race, which is this Saturday 12 October from 1pm. The plan is to rake the whole track (perhaps BYO rake if you have one), and treats and afternoon tea will be provided! Directions to the venue are on the Series info page.

The Highlands cycling legends that are the McGee's will also be on hand to assist you with spares, accessories and mechanical support. This is of course in addition to the neutral race support provided by our fantastic sponsors SRAM! McGee's Cycling in Bowral will also be open throughout the weekend.

Just a note from sponsor James Estate Wines - Graeme will be travelling solo at Welby so there will be no tastings. However if you'd like to place an order to pick up at the race from Graeme, contact him on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 02 6547 5168. How's that for great service?

All the Round 4 info can be found here, entries close midnight on 16 October - get your teams organised and get entered!

Good luck and Special Offer to WEMBO Competitors!

While we often shake our heads in perplexion at those of you who love riding around in circles on your own for hour after hour after hour ... we are full of admiration for the efforts of solo riders at our events, and stoked to have seen such huge fields of soloists at this year's events getting in the necessary saddle time for the 2013 WEMBO World 24hr Solo Championship at Mt Stromlo this weekend. We wish you all bucketloads of luck whether your hope is to become a World Champion or you're just wanting to put in your best ever24hr performance at a World Championship event on home turf. It's gonna be great and we'll be following the online results to see how the Aussies are faring!

We'd like to offer all those who compete at WEMBO this weekend a whopping 40% discount on solo entry to Round 4 at Welby on 20 October. With 40 bonus points on offer, it could just make a big difference to your Series standing and be worth rocking up to put in a few laps for! So, when your brain comes back to life in the days after the race and you decide that coming to Welby might just be a bit of fun, head to the entry page and use the code WEMBO to receive the discount. 40% off for 40 bonus points - do it!

DSCN13271Women's MTB Skills Clinic

Since the last newsletter, we've run two women only MTB skills clinics at St Ives Showground. These have been a great success and we'll be scheduling another one before the end of the year. We're also planning to offer a mixed clinic in the New Year so the guys can join in too. All the details will be available here in the next week or so.
