Joe-TDF

Hello!

It's been an interesting couple of months since our last newsletter with the Singletrack Mind Series kicking off in fine style at the wonderful Taree trails, followed by Round 2 and Round 3 being postponed due to the epic rainfall we've been experiencing in NSW. Needless to say, we're itching to run the rescheduled Round 2 at Nowra on 4 August!

In the meantime, plenty of other things have been planned including a Dig & Ride Day at Nowra, a women's skills clinic, and a social ride. All the details below.

For the Tour-obsessives, we hope you're surviving the sleep deprivation! Joe is over at the Tour and was stoked with his time on the podium in green! He's working behind the camera for Fox Sports so if you've got Foxtel and need more Tour-time, check out their daily show.

As for Fi, she's currently struggling through a house move (nice timing, Joe!) and Dry July. Testing times! She's raising funds for the National Stroke Foundation and you can check out her fundraising page here.

Round 1, Sunday 28 April - Kiwarrak State Forest

Round 1 at Taree seems like a lifetime ago but for anyone who's keen to read more about it, head to the Results & Reports page!

Round 2, Sunday 4 August - Coondoo Road, Nowra

We're really looking forward to heading to Nowra for Round 2 on 4 August. There's rumour of a brand new trail feature to be unveiled at the event which we know will add a great variation to the already amazing Coondoo Road race course. This venue continually attracts the highest numbers of all the Series, and we've already got some 370 people signed up. But there's space for more! Entries are available here and will close at midnight on Wednesday 31 July. And if you're keen to help with a bit of trail maintenance at Coondoo, come along to the Dig & Ride day on Saturday 20 July (details below).

Dig and Ride Day, Saturday 20 July - Coondoo Road, Nowra

You're probably aware of the ridiculous amount of rain that was received on the NSW South Coast a couple of weeks ago. The Coondoo Road trail has held up remarkably well but there is a bit of work needed in places. SCUM are running a Dig and Ride Day on Saturday 20 July to repair and buff up the track in preparation for our event on 4 August. The plan is to kick off at 9am, dig, ride, then enjoy a BBQ kindly provided by SCUM. BYO boots, gloves, and of course bike. Shovels & rakes would no doubt be handy if you have them. And if you can hang around for Sunday too, there is definitely a plan to ride more!

DSCF0152Women's MTB Skills Clinic

Due to popular demand, we've organised a women only MTB skills clinic at St Ives Showground on Sunday 11 August. Fi will be instructing the group and a maximum group size of six participants will ensure that everyone receives plenty of attention! The clinic is for both novice (with some off-road experience) and intermediate riders with drills tailored for both levels. All the details can be found here, and we're pretty confident that spots will fill up fast so don't delay in grabbing yours!

Our next social ride is at Terrey Hills on Saturday 10 August. It's a great ride for beginners, very scenic and mostly firetrail with some asphalt sections, and a good opportunity to meet new riding buddies. Check out the details here, and keep up to date by signing up for our social rides newsletter or joining our Facebook group.

For The Birds - 25 August 2013

for-the-birds

We're stoked to be supporting a great initiative from Canberra Off-Road Cyclists, the women's only For The Birds event! The inaugural 2012 event attracted over 100 riders last year and with a few tweaks to the format CORC hope to double that number this year! The race is held on Canberra's iconic Sparrow Hill fun, flowing trails, and with different course options on offer depending on your fitness or technical prowess there really is something for everyone! Online entry is available here.

Back Yamma Bigfoot - 25 August 2013

For those who are the wrong gender to compete at For The Birds or looking for a marathon event, then the Back Yamma Bigfoot is also on the 25 August. This 25/50/100km marathon is held in Back Yamma State Forest, near Parkes in the Central West, and the trails are fast, flowing, and mostly flat! With a huge prize pool including a $1300 bike give-away from Merida, super-affordable race entry, and a relaxed and friendly vibe, this event is definitely one for the bucket list! Check out all the info here.
