Skills Clinics, Social Rides & Bowral Classic

Dear All

We've been pretty busy on the MTB Skills front lately with our July skills clinics, a clinic for the Soft Cogs club in Newcastle, and regular private tuition sessions. And Fi's been hitting the road with the Bowral Classic Training group rides. No complaints at all about this as it means we get to ride bikes heaps! Hope you too have made it through the worst of winter with plenty of saddle time!

Upcoming MTB Skills Clinics

Our regular clinics continue to be really popular, with both Women's only and Mixed clinics in July selling out! Here's what we're offering in September, some of which is in conjunction with Northern Beaches Council as part of their NSW Bike Week celebrations!

Introduction to MTB, Saturday 17 September, North Head Reserve.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who can already ride a bike who is wondering what mountain biking is all about or wants to have a taster before taking the plunge and buying all the gear. During the session we'll take you through bike setup, body position, and basic skills to help you kick start your mountain biking with control and confidence!

Demystifying the Dam, Saturday 17 September, Manly Dam

With its sandstone ledges giving plenty of challenge in the form of roll downs and step ups, and rugged terrain throughout pretty much the whole loop, Manly Dam is a challenging track. But what these challenges also offer is the opportunity to have heaps of fun! We will help you maximise your fun around the Dam by showing you lines, helping you nail those rock ledges, and taking the time to session sections to improve your performance and speed.

MTB Skills Clinic, Sunday 18 September, Manly Dam

This skills day is suitable for novice (with some off-road experience) and beginner-to-intermediate riders. With two instructors and a small group of participants, we can ensure plenty of attention for each person! The drills you'll learn and practice during the day will be tailored to ensure that they are challenging enough for the more experienced riders but not too daunting to the less experienced. Our main goal is to see everyone having fun on their bikes learning new skills and riding more confidently by the end of the day!

Head to the website for more information and registration links for all these clinics.

One-on-One / Small Group Tuition

We also offer private or small group tuition, so if you can't make a group clinic but want a few pointers, get in touch! These can be scheduled for any day of the week, and while we run most sessions at St Ives Showground, we are also happy to travel to a location of your choice. This email address is being protected from spambots. Social Rides

Stacked Black sm

We're involved in a bunch of regular social rides on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The regular rides include beginner and intermediate women’s MTB and road training rides.

As part of the NSW Bike Week celebrations we'll be offering a beginner ride at North Head Reserve before heading to the free Bike Breakfast in Manly on Tuesday 20 September, and an intermediate women's ride at Manly Dam on Wednesday 21 September. Join us!

Check out the website for more info.

Bowral Classic Workshops and Training Rides

Training for the inaugural Bowral Classic event on 23 October is well underway! As we mentioned in May, Fi teamed up with Sarah Anne Evans from Karmea to offer workshops and a series of training rides to help you prepare for your chosen event distance of 90km or 160km. Even if you're not doing the Bowral Classic, you're welcome to join us on these training rides - next ride is Sunday 11 September. Head to Facebook for all the info.

That's it for now, enjoy the rest of the week and hope you've got some awesome rides planned for the weekend!
